The Church of Our Saviour becomes a parish

Publish Date: 02-Oct-2019

The Church of Our Saviour in the Diocese of Eastern Kowloon celebrated her 43th anniversary and her elevation into a parish on 14 September with a Eucharist service. The Rt. Revd Dr Timothy Kwok, Bishop of Eastern Kowloon, was the celebrant while Archbishop Paul Kwong, Primate of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, preached and gave blessings.

The elevation of the mission church to a parish church represents an identity change within the Province. The diocese and other limbs within the body of Christ assisted and supported the Church of Our Saviour in various ways to lead it to become a parish church. Transforming from a mission church to a parish church is a development process to become a self-sufficient faithful community. A parish church is a self-governance community under the Province providing her own pastoral care and evangelization to people living within her parish.
