Transitional Housing project managed by Welfare Council expect to be completed in 2022

HKSKH Welfare Council and Sun Hung Kai Properties held a groundbreaking ceremony for the United Court Transitional Housing project, which will be developed and managed by the Welfare Council. The SAR Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, officiated at the ceremony and Archbishop Andrew Chan gave his blessings for the project’s commencement.

Dr Donald Li, chairman of the Welfare Council’s Board of Directors, thanked Sun Hung Kai Properties for leasing the land for the development project for a minimum of eight years at a nominal charge of HK$1.

The United Court project is expected to house some 5000 underprivileged families and is scheduled to be completed by mid-2022. It has a total buildable floor area of 420,000 sq ft comprising of 1,800 units, ranging from one-person to five-person apartments. To facilitate interaction and community building among the residents, United Court will have communal kitchens, common play and recreational areas and a community centre that offers services such as childcare, parental education, nursing consultation and counselling. The centre will also provide opportunities for social activities and employment opportunities.
