Archbishop Andrew Chan encourages educators to rediscover their original passion

Publish Date: 04-Aug-2021

Sheng Kung Hui (SKH) Primary Schools Council Principal Conference held a ceremony on 8 July to farewell nine retiring or leaving school principals. The ceremony also marked the retirement of Mr Tse Chang Keung, the Chief Administrator of the Primary Schools Council, and the succession of the Very Revd Chan Kwok Keung, Dean of St John’s Cathedral, to Archbishop Andrew Chan as the new chairman of the council.

Speaking in his capacity as the Archbishop of HKSKH at the ceremony, Archbishop Chan praised Dean Chan for being an energetic leader. He believed that Dean Chan would further the development of the council. Archbishop Chan also said, “The education sector has been under pressure in recent years. The difficulties, challenges, and unforeseeable potential pitfalls in the future have caused huge psychological burdens on school principals. Under the protection and guidance of God, educators need to rediscover their original passion for education, to manifest the truth of God through their education ministry, to counter the pervasiveness of intrigue, confrontation and retaliation arising from people vying for advantages by spreading love, joy, peace, tolerance, mercy, honesty, gentleness, and temperance.”
