Bishop Matthias Der reminds Christians to follow God’s will

The Diocese of Hong Kong Island Committee on Christian Nurture organized a keynote lecture “Finding your path – Follow God’s will?!” on 15 July at St Stephen’s Church by Bishop Matthias Der.

In his lecture, Bishop Der pointed out that many people in Hong Kong lost their direction and felt helpless, confused and anxious. The Hong Kong that they knew, which was comfortable and easy-going, has changed in the past year. Under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, people’s daily activities were restricted and they were forced to make changes to their lives and livelihoods with some people’s incomes being seriously affected.

He said when a person or a family sought God’s guidance, they were hoping for peace and direction. At the end of the lecture, Bishop Der used the story of on the Road to Emmaus to encourage participants that regardless of their decisions, God would not abandon them. God loves everybody, no matter whether they were planning to migrate to other countries or stay behind in Hong Kong, God would always be with them.
