Kevin Yeung, Under Secretary for Education, visited SKH All Saints’ Middle School on 7 March. He listened to the principal’s introduction of school affairs, watched the exhibition drill of the school’s Junior Police Call Leader Corps and experienced how teaching could be done with the assistance of virtual reality. Mr Yeung is very interested in 3D printing technology and encouraged teachers to use technology to nurture creativity and the spirit of exploration in students. He also praised the school management committee for providing support outside of classes for the students by coordinating with the church, school and social service organizations. He also acknowledged the important roles played by All Saints’ Cathedral’s congregants and the alumni of the school in the mentorship programme sponsored by the Child Development Fund. Mr Yeung cared about students’ participation in learning activities and extracurricular activities. He encouraged them to take an active part in these two areas so that they could widen their horizons. He also learned of the challenges teachers faced and shared his views on issues related to education with the school managers. Mr Yeung appreciates the mission of the school and believes that in this age of information, students could easily obtain knowledge and information on the internet. Hence, schools should focus on developing moral character, positive thinking and values nowadays.
