Grandparents taught to bring up infants

HKSKH Welfare Council launched its Pilot Project on Child Care Training for Grandparents in September last year. Forty grandparents joined the training at HKSKH Tung Chung Integrated Services and HKSKH Western District Elderly Community Centre.

Thirty-seven participants completed the training, and the Welfare Council held a graduation ceremony for them on 8 April at St James’ Church. Veteran TV personality English Tang was invited to share his experience and joy in caring for his grandchildren during the occasion.

Keung Choi-yin, Service Director at HKSKH Welfare Council, thanked the Lotteries Fund for sponsoring the course and the Social Welfare Department for their support. Families who showed up at the graduation ceremony were there to appreciate the effort grandparents put into their families. This appreciation helps build trust and harmonious relationships among family members as they love and care for the newborn together, said Keung.
