New parishes to recount their journey

Publish Date: 28-Jun-2017

The Seventh General Synod passed twenty-three resolutions in June 2016. Resolution 12 proposes that dioceses take measures to help a mission church to become a parish within five years. This resolution has become a catalyst for the development of mission churches into parishes. A branch of the Steering Committee on the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Church Policy Paper, the Working Group for Dialogue will gather and disseminate news on the mission churches’ transformation.

The Church of the Holy Word in Lam Tin became a parish on 25 March, and on 8 July, St Timothy’s Church in Aberdeen is going to be declared a parish. The vicar and a lay leader of each of these two churches will share their experience in this column so that members of the new parishes can count on the grace God has given them in the past as the new parishes continue to grow.
