Say no to monster parenting to let children soar

HKSKH Primary School Counselling Service held a recreational event titled "We Learn to Fly" on 6 May at Tseung Kwan O Kei Tak Primary School. The event was attended by primary one to primary four students from three schools and their parents, totaling to approximately 30 people. Paper planes formed the theme of that day. It reminds the families that recreation need not be an expensive affair. As long as the family members stay together, even simple and inexpensive games can provide a fun experience. The most important message to parents is that they should “let go” of their children so they can fly high like the paper planes. The counselor Mr Ng Wing Kuen pointed out that parents often do not know when to let go of their children. He said that it is more important to let children learn to develop confidence and perseverance through facing failures than tasting success.
