Anglican (Hong Kong) Primary Schools Council and its Principal Conference bid farewell to retirees at its annual dinner on 7 July. A school supervisor and seven principals are retiring at the end of the current academic year. Bishop Andrew Chan thanked them for their hard work and encouraged them to participate in the council’s future events and celebrations.

Also present at the dinner was Archbishop Paul Kwong, who mentioned the school chaplaincy system in his address. He said that the ideal chaplain should not be given teaching duties but tasked only with providing pastoral care to staff and students. The role could be taken up by a lay person with the appropriate training. A graduate of the Master in Chaplaincy Studies programme offered by Cardiff University at Ming Hua Theological College, for example, would make a suitable school chaplain. Archbishop Kwong also said that he hoped to send chaplains to schools to care for the spiritual needs of all staff and students.
