Publish Date: 04-Sep-2017

Macau was devastated when Typhoon Hato hit South China on 23 August. Archbishop Paul Kwong and the Revd Kenneth Lau, the Assistant Provincial Secretary General, visited Macau on 31 August to learn of the relief efforts initiated by Sheng Kung Hui’s social services branch in Macau and the damage done by the storms and floods.

According to the Macau Social Service Coordination Office, ninety members of staff under its social service units assisted 501 people while they were on duty during the storm. Archbishop Kwong praised the members of the congregations and the social workers for working as a team in the face of difficulties to help those in need. He thanked them on behalf of the Province for fixing the damage in the facilities and offices and cleaning the streets immediately after the storm.
