All Saints’ Cathedral celebrated the 126th anniversary of its foundation on 29 October. Brother Alfred BoonKong from the Society of St Francis was invited to preach the homily at the commemoration service. His message revolved the topic of vocation, which originated from the Latin term vocatio, meaning a call from God to serve. Although the term is often used in reference to ordained ministry, it is also applicable to the lives of the disciples. Brother Alfred said that God is calling us to be more than what we are at the present. He used the life of Saint Francis of Assisi to elaborate upon this point and concluded that Christians would go through many conversion experiences in their lives to bring them closer to the image of God.
