New cross-sector support network for the elderly in Chuk Yuen
Publish Date: 23-Nov-2017
HKSKH Chuk Yuen Canon Martin District Elderly Community Centre launched a project to build a community support network for the elderly on 7 October. The launch was celebrated with a carnival full of games, handicrafts, Chinese medical consultations, and exhibitions. The three-year project was started in November 2016 and was funded by the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund. To form a support network for the elderly, the project links several sectors together: healthcare, education, social service, social welfare, and business. The project also trains the elderly and other members in the community to become volunteer leaders of their residential blocks, so they can identify the people in need and lend them assistance in a timely manner.
