Mankind and heavenly host unite at Provincial Choral Festival
Publish Date: 12-Dec-2017
The biennial Provincial Choral Festival was held this year at St John’s Cathedral on 26 November, the feast of Christ the King and the last Sunday of the Church calendar. Bishop Timothy Kwok took the role of the celebrant at the Eucharistic service, while Bishop Andrew Chan preached the homily and Archbishop Paul Kwong gave the final blessing. In his sermon, Bishop Chan said that music was a precious gift that God had bestowed upon us. It bridged mankind and heaven. A choir singing with orchestral accompaniment lifted our spirits to a heightened transcendental plane. While sermons of many famous evangelists had faded away, the scores of significant works of music were safely kept in the Church because music had a life of its own.
