Teachers encouraged to be flexible on Provincial Education Day

Educators and students gathered at St John’s Cathedral to pray for Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui’s schools at the Provincial Education Day Vespers on 6 January 2018. Archbishop Paul Kwong presided over the service while Archdeacon Mark Tang preached the sermon.

During his sermon, Archdeacon Tang pointed out that the many rules and regulations imposed on the education sector would occasionally impede teachers’ and students’ attempts to build relationships with each other. However, in today’s society, we need timely and relevant regulations to ensure that the rights of all people involved in the sector are protected. Yet, if educators could practise flexibility within the bounds of sensibility, legality, and reasonableness, they could transform schools into joyful places of learning where students and teachers could build amiable relationships.
