Church, School, and Social Service Joint Development Day

Almost 8,000 educators, social workers, clerics, and parishioners gathered at AsiaWorld-Expo on 23 May to take part in the Church, School, and Social Service Joint Development Day, one of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui’s 20th anniversary celebratory events. The theme of the event was Our Faith, Our Way. The day started off with a service of morning prayer. Afterwards, organizers showed a video clip that introduced the history and structure of the province, and the development of the evangelism, education, and social service ministries. After the film, the Bishop of Western Kowloon, Andrew Chan, gave a presentation on the subject of Christian witness, and the Bishop of Eastern Kowloon, Timothy Kwok, shared his thoughts on the challenges educators and social workers faced nowadays. The guest speaker, Fr Thomas Kwan from the Roman Catholic Church, who is an educator of theology and an expert in marriage ministry, then gave a keynote speech on the services of HKSKH churches, schools and social service ministries and how they interact with one another. Lastly, Archbishop of Hong Kong, Dr Paul Kwong, delivered the conclusion and imparted blessing to the audience.
