Restaurants and exhibition area at the Blue House Cluster open now

Publish Date: 29-May-2018

Viva Blue House, a project to revitalize the Blue House Cluster in Wan Chai, retained the traditional shophouse typology by setting up two social enterprises in the shop spaces on the ground floors of the Blue House and of the Orange House. Aside from shops, Viva Blue House also created an exhibition at one of the apartments upstairs to show the public the history of the community.

Ms Josephine Lee, chief executive officer of St James’ Settlement, explained that the two social enterprises, a vegetarian restaurant and a dessert shop respectively, aimed at promoting healthy eating habits, supporting local ecological farming, and creating job opportunities in the community. The exhibition area displayed discarded items collected from the Blue House Cluster. Young people were encouraged to participate in curating this exhibition to reconstruct the history of the community and show the living conditions of people in different social strata during different periods.
