Church of Shalom starts constructing new chapel
Publish Date: 27-Jul-2018
The Church of Shalom celebrated its 10th anniversary with a Eucharistic service in the hall of St Andrew’s Primary School. The Bishop of Western Kowloon, Andrew Chan, officiated at the service and delivered the homily. He said that in the past ten years, the Church of Shalom had witnessed that God rewarded all attempts to fulfill His mission, no matter how small, with abundant blessings. This was the meaning behind the biblical story of Five Loaves and Two Fish. After the service, the bishops, clergy, and parishioners headed to the sheltered playground for a groundbreaking ceremony. A chapel is to be built near the playground as a permanent place of worship for the Church of Shalom, which has been using the school hall for services since its inception. Presiding over the ceremony, the Archbishop of Hong Kong, Dr Paul Kwong, prayed for the safety of the construction workers and for blessings upon the parishioners to put the new building into good use so that they might witness Christ faithfully.
