Residents at Providence Garden for Rehab benefit from sensory integration exercises

Publish Date: 24-Aug-2018

Since 2006, the Providence Garden for Rehab has been providing vocational training for mentally handicapped people over the age of fifteen. The facilities and services it offers aim to enhance the residents’ independence and life skills. This is achieved by providing sheltered workshop, supported employment, and work extension to the residents, who can involve themselves in different types of work, such as printing, packaging, processing, and gift designs and production.

Four years ago, the Providence Garden introduced sensory integration exercises and discovered its stabilizing effect on the emotional fluctuations of their autistic residents. Therefore, in early 2018, the institution refurbished an area within its complex and purchased new equipment to provide personalized training programmes to help their autistic residents to build up daily routines and concentrate on their vocational training.
