Publish Date: 31-Aug-2018
St James’ Church celebrates its sixty-fifth anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, the church organized a string of events in July, including a carnival, a concert, a thanksgiving service, and a dinner. Corresponding to the theme of the anniversary “Devotedly offering my life”, the church has also planned a series of volunteer training, visitations to those in need, and seminars on parenting and family life. Professor Norma Leben, an expert in parenting and play therapy, has been invited to talk to parents about enhancing children’s emotional and adversity quotients in October. In the following month, Ms Shirley Loo, general secretary of the Family Development Foundation, will speak about family harmony and happy children. The Archbishop of Hong Kong, Dr Paul Kwong, presided over and preached the homily in the thanksgiving service for the parish’s sixty-fifth anniversary, held on 22 July. It was the opportunity for fifteen brothers and sisters to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
