Chief Secretary visits HKSKH Western District Elderly Community Centre

Publish Date: 07-Sep-2018

Mr Matthew Cheung, the Chief Secretary for Administration, visited HKSKH Western District Elderly Community Centre on 17 August to learn about HKSKH Welfare Council’s latest developments in elderly care services.

Mr Cheung was joined by Mrs Susanne Wong, district officer (Central and Western), and Mr Yip Wing-shing, the chairman of the Central and Western District Council, when he visited the elderly community centre. After Dr Jane Lee and Mr Joe Sham, director and assistant director of the Welfare Council, had received the visitors, the members of the centre introduced the Jockey Club Community eHealth Care Project to their guests.

The project’s aim is to detect health risks the seniors face and enhance their health management skills. One of the main tasks is a health survey designed by a university. Data such as blood sugar and blood pressure levels are to be collected from eight elderly centres under the Welfare Council for analysis, in order to discover the link between daily health indices and long-term health, which will provide useful reference for the government when making relevant policies.
