Housing chief praises success of community house project

The HKSKH Welfare Council held a ceremony in recognition of the hard work of the ‘floor managers’, leaders of the residents of the To Kwa Wan community house programme. Mr Frank Chan, Secretary for Transport and Housing, presented the awards as the guest of honour, praising the leaders for helping with the management of the buildings and putting the concept of co-management into practice.

During his speech, Mr Chan said that the community housing movement was severely criticized when the government first proposed it. Critics even said that the government was getting into the subdivided flat business themselves. He said that the project would not have achieved today’s success if the government had not persevered nor received the support of the different welfare institutes.
