Art therapy sessions for parents with SEN children
Publish Date: 25-Sep-2019
Parents are naturally concerned about the physical health, academic performance and developmental needs of their children. Aside from the usual worries, parents of children with special education needs (SEN) must also to see to their children’s assessments, treatment, and learning and behavioural issues. These parents are often stressed and tired but are too busy to tend to their own well-being. HKSKH Walk with Love joined hands with Ms Grace Chan, an art therapist at the Welfare Council, to organize three art therapy sessions for parents with SEN children. The aim of the programme is to help parents express the challenges they face as caregivers through creating artwork in a place they feel comfortable in so that they can release the negative emotions within them and examine their own needs anew.
