Provincial Sports Day

Since 2008 the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui has organized three consecutive Provincial Sports and Games Days. Held biennially, the Provincial Sports Day has attracted thousands of Anglicans together to share the grace, joy and love of God.

The first Provincial Sports and Games Day took place in the same year as the Beijing Summer Olympic Games. The organizing committee chose St Stephen's College, Stanley as the venue. That year, both the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony-cum-The Holy Eucharist were held inside the Tang Shiu Kin Stadium on campus. About 2,000 parishioners from Hong Kong and Macau took part in the Eucharist. The second Provincial Sports and Games Day continued to take place at St Stephen's College, Stanley. This time free shuttle bus service was provided between Admiralty and Stanley. Also, large TV sets were installed for live broadcast of the ceremonies and liturgies to those sitting in tents next to the Tang Shiu Kin Stadium. The third gathering in 2012 was formally named as Provincial Sports Day as this time more track and field events were held. The venue also changed to Diocesan Boys' School, Mong Kok. And in order to for the younger generation Anglicans to have more fun, cotton candy machines, popcorn machines and inflatable slides were added. Most of the parents shared that the children had a wonderful time!
