Publish Date: 29-Nov-2019
The Eleventh Diocesan Synod of Hong Kong Island was held on 17 November at St Stephen’s Church. The Standing Committee and the Committee on Constitutions and Canons moved three motions, which were all passed. The Diocesan Synod also elected officers and members to various committees. One of the three motions passed is confirming amendments to the resolutions moved by the Standing Committee in the last Diocesan Synod: When the General Synod made amendments to the province’s constitution, canons, or standing orders, the Standing Committee of the Diocesan Synod must make the necessary updates to the diocese’s constitution, canons and standing orders and take appropriate measures to inform all parishes and mission churches in the diocese. The Committee on Constitution and Canons moved two motions. One was a motion to stipulate that each parish should appoint one delegate to the diocesan synod out of every thirty registered members, with a maximum of 12 delegates to be appointed from each parish. The committee also moved another motion to make amendments to the qualifications of parish vestries for electing delegates to the diocesan synod.
