St John’s Cathedral celebrates 170th anniversary
Publish Date: 17-Dec-2019
St John’s Cathedral celebrated her 170th Anniversary on 24 November with a Thanksgiving Eucharist. Archbishop Paul Kwong was the celebrant while Bishop Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, was the preacher. In his sermon, Bishop Curry said that he was especially touched by the first sentence of St John’s 170th-anniversary prayer, which read, “Heavenly Father, we praise you for the witness of St John’s Cathedral, over 170 years, as a beacon of your love in Hong Kong.” He thanked God for using the cathedral to be a beacon of His love. Bishop Curry prayed that every member of the congregation would become beacons of that love in the world.
