HKSKH Elderly Centres celebrate anniversaries

Publish Date: 30-Jan-2020

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Kindly Light Neighbourhood Elderly Centre and the 25th anniversary of the Chuk Yuen Canon Martin District Elderly Community Centre, the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council held a thanksgiving service and dedication ceremony on 30 November 2019 for guests, staff members, clients and parishioners to share the gratitude of the two elderly centres.

The dedication ceremony was held at the newly renovated Kindly Light Neighbourhood Elderly Centre. Dr Jane Lee, director of the Welfare Council described the renovation a “splendid transformation”. The new designs and facilities are delightful. She thanked the Kindly Light Church for setting up a fund to help poor families many years ago. Although the Welfare Council is now part of the operations, the Kindly Light Church remains fully involved in providing spiritual support. She hoped that this spirit could continue into the future. She also thanked the Hong Kong Jockey Club for sponsoring the renovations. The new elderly centre is the result of the joint efforts of the civil society, the commercial sector, the authorities, and schools in serving the community.
