Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan installs her sixth bishop

Publish Date: 03-Mar-2020

The Revd Lennon Chang, the rector of the Advent Church, Taipei, was elected as the sixth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan in August 2019, succeeding the seventy-two-year-old Bishop David Lai, who is retiring in March. An ordination, consecration and installation service was held on 22 February at St John’s Cathedral in Taipei.

The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Revd Michael Curry, was the chief consecrator. In his sermon, Bishop Curry reminds Bishop Chang and the congregation that they have to follow Jesus Christ as they lead the Church in Taiwan so that everything could be transformed. Like Peter and Andrew who followed Jesus’ instructions and received a great catch of fish.

Bishop Curry stressed that Christians in Taiwan should not be following Bishop Curry, Bishop Chang, or any other bishops or clerics, or any person, but they should follow Jesus because Jesus is the “way”, the “truth” and the “life”.
