Covid-19: A message from global Anglican leadership
Publish Date: 07-Apr-2020
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Chair of the Anglican Consultative Council, the Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion, and the five primates elected to represent their regions on the Standing Committee of the Anglican Communion wrote a joint letter to the Anglican Communion about the Covid-19 pandemic. The letter pointed out that governments of many countries are adopting different measures to contain the pandemic and these measures pose unprecedented restrictions on the lives of their citizens. The Church leaders stressed that the suspension of public services did not mean that people should stop worshipping God. They should worship Him in private and with their families. The leaders also reminded people to place their trust in God. Lastly, the leaders appealed to people to heed the advice of their countries’ authorities and care for those who are unable to care for themselves.
