HKSKH Primary schools continue education ministry despite coronavirus pandemic
Publish Date: 13-May-2020
Hong Kong Government Education Bureau recently released a schedule for school resumption as the COVID-19 pandemic is showing signs of easing in the city. Form 3 to Form 5 students will resume classes from 27 May; Primary 4 to Form 2 classes will resume from 8 June. For kindergarten (K1 and K2) students will not return to school in this school year. Classes of Kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools were suspended since the Chinese New Year in late January. In the past three months, although schools offered online teaching at all levels, many parents of primary students were worried about the suspension of classes because they believe that primary education is a crucial stage in building a good foundation of knowledge for future academic developments. Fortunately, schools used different teaching methods to support their students studying from home. Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui primary schools used online platforms to teach and phoned students regularly to provide human interaction support. Teachers from some schools work in shifts to ensure that schools are open so that parents and students can visit the school if they have any enquiries.
