Act of Love walks with the community during COVID-19 pandemic
Publish Date: 27-May-2020
Act of Love launched COVID-19 emergency support service in response to the pandemic outbreak that savaged the economy since late January. With the generosity of parishioners, the support service raised funds to help numerous families. In the past two months, Act of Love processed seven hundred applications for emergency aid. Another seventy applications were still being processed. Eighty per cent of the successful applicants are families of students of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui secondary, primary schools and kindergartens. Since many schools are in grass-root communities, the students and their families are often less well off. Under the current pandemic, schools learned that many families needed urgent assistance. Had not SKH schools’ teachers and social workers actively intervened, some of these families might not know how to obtain outside help.
