St James’ Settlement extend afterschool service hours

Publish Date: 23-Jun-2020

Following the reopening of secondary and primary schools, many students and their parents have experienced stress caused by the resumption of classes. In response to this, St James’ Settlement, with support from Hang Seng Bank, joined seven social service organizations and twelve schools to launch a student support service to provide extra support, including longer after school service hours and homework tutorials, for grass-root students and their families, who are clients of these social service organizations.

The project started on 8 June, coinciding with the phased reopening of primary and secondary schools and will last until August. Some 3500 grass-roots students and families are expected to be benefited by this initiative. The project staff also offer support to the needs of younger primary school students, who began to return to school on 15 June.
