Publish Date: 20-Oct-2020
Mr Li Fook Hing OBE, the first Lay Canon of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui and a senior parishioner at St John’s Cathedral, passed away on 9 October 2020, aged ninety-seven. His funeral service took place on 16 October at St John’s Cathedral. Archbishop Paul Kwong, who knows Mr Li for many years, praised him for being a parishioner who loved the Church and cared for the clerics. He was an elderly gentleman with vast knowledge, a great vision, and a modest and courteous manner, said Archbishop Kwong, and he learned a lot from Mr Li through their exchanges. Archbishop Kwong noted that although Mr Li came from a wealthy and respectable family, he was a humble person who loved St John’s Cathedral and thought of it as home. Archbishop Kwong was most impressed by his frugality toward himself. Despite his wealth, Mr Li drove a small Smart Car, and yet he was very generous towards others, including the Church, the clerics, fellow parishioners, and people in need.
