Diocese of Eastern Kowloon holds evensong for choristers

Publish Date: 01-Dec-2020

Choristers from the diocese of Eastern Kowloon held an evensong on 26 October at the Holy Spirit Church. The Rt Revd Andrew Chan, Bishop of Western Kowloon, who also attended the service, shared his knowledge about the historical developments of the morning prayer and evensong as the choristers prepared for the service. Mr Tsang Hing-wai, the conductor led the choir in singing the hymns that evening.

Bishop Chan also used the hymn The day you gave us, Lord, is ended to point out that the only thing eternal in the human world is the praise for God. The last verse of the hymn: “earth's proud empires, pass away; your kingdom stands, and grows forever,” is a significant reminder. In the current political, economic, pandemic situations, the congregation has to remember that praising the Lord alone is eternal, he added. All evensongs are scheduled at the end of a day of work when the spirit rejuvenates.
