St Anne’s Church becomes a parish church

Publish Date: 09-Dec-2020

The mission church St Anne’s Church (formerly Church of Shalom) became a parish church on 28 November with a Thanksgiving Service. The Rt Revd Andrew Chan, Bishop of Western Kowloon, was the celebrant while The Very Revd Samson Fan, Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral, was the preacher. The service was also attended by the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, Archbishop and Primate of Hong Kong, the Rt Revd Timothy Kwok, Bishop of Eastern Kowloon, and the Rt Revd Thomas Soo, Bishop Emeritus of Western Kowloon; and many clerics. The church was renamed St Anne’s Church on that day and St Anne is her patron saint.

In his sermon, Dean Fan stressed that St Paul asked that the Church should “speak the truth in love”. The Church must also dedicate herself to practising ecumenism bestowed by the Holy Spirit. He hoped that St Anne’s Church may show herself worthy of her calling and remain faithful to Christ in a world filled with lies, divisions, and destructions. He also called on St Anne’s Church to pursue ecumenism with love and truth.
