HKSKH Tung Chung Integrated Services organizes job fair for the unemployed

The HKSKH Tung Chung Integrated Services, a unit under the HKSKH Welfare Council, has always been committed to active community participation and helping the residents in the district find employment within their neighbourhood. The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a blow to all industries and many people have lost their jobs, became underemployed or furloughed. In response to this situation, the social service unit organized a job fair at a mall in Tung Chung on 4 November. Six participating companies at the event provided 500 working opportunities for the locals.

Mr Au Chun-him, an officer of Tung Chung Integrated Services, said that under the impact of the pandemic, the social service unit has followed up on some six hundred employment support cases, which was a 50% increase compared to the number of cases in the past year.

“The job market is worse off than last year, therefore we are especially grateful for the companies who took part in the job fair and hired approximately forty people on the spot.” He said.

The social service unit plans to hold another job fair in Tung Chung in January and March next year to support citizens to find employment.
