St James’ Settlement holds 70th Annual General Meeting

St James’ Settlement held its 70th Annual General Meeting on 20 November 2020 at its headquarters. Apart from tabling its annual report at the meeting, executive committee members for the new term (2020-21) were appointed. Mr David Li, chair of St James’ Settlement executive committee said in his welcome speech that St James’ Settlement would continue to develop and use new technology in innovative projects, which includes utilizing internet platforms and mobile phone apps to provide education and employment counselling as well as and providing practical information for caregivers of elderly clients. Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, who was the guest of honour of the occasion, praised St James’ Settlement for building long-term cooperation with local enterprises and synergizing citizens, businesses, and governmental agencies in its services. The effectiveness of its services could be spoken by the fact that over the years, with grants from businesses and matching funds totalling some $53 million, the Settlement empowered the vulnerable through its more than eighty tailor-made initiatives catering to the authentic needs of vulnerable communities, he said.
