Crown of Thorns Church celebrates 55th anniversary

The Crown of Thorns Church celebrated its 55^th anniversary with a thanksgiving service and an inauguration ceremony for the Revd William Wu on 22 November 2020. Archbishop Andrew Chan was the celebrant of the service at which nineteen parishioners received confirmation. In his sermon, Archbishop Chan told the congregation about how Jesus Christ judges people, and how the Lord wishes his people to lead their lives.

At the inauguration ceremony, Fr Wu, who was appointed vicar of the church on 1 February 2020, officially received the key of the church from the representatives of the parish to symbolize his willingness in taking up the responsibilities of the church as its vicar and to commit himself as a faithful shepherd of the fold. Archbishop Chan then appointed Fr Wu as the vicar who would be responsible for healing the spirit, providing pastoral care to his parishioners’ mind and body, and fulfilling his promise made before God and the congregation.
