To Kwa Wan Exhibition on community redevelopment

Publish Date: 02-Feb-2021

St James’ Settlement’s Urban Renewal Social Service Team put up an online exhibition titled “Rediscover and Rebuild: To Kwa Wan Exhibition”. The exhibition is arranged in two parts under the themes “rediscover” and “rebuild”. With installation art, the team hopes to share the stories of long-time community residents and provide a frame of reference for urban renewal projects in Kowloon City and the Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok areas in Kowloon.

St James’ Settlement launched the exhibition with an opening ceremony at the Cattle Depot Artist Village 1a space on 23 January. Mr Timothy Ma, a director of the Urban Renewal Fund, said: “Our original aim is to develop a new model of urban renewal approach in consultation with the residents with the purpose of meeting people’s needs in the affected area. We understand that the residents affected by renewal programme are facing massive changes, but we hope that the team of social workers could help the residents overcome challenges and build a harmonious community among old and new residents.”
