Publish Date: 17-Sep-2018
Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Standing Commission on Liturgical Matters staged the annual concert by the recipients of the Mrs Lily Pong Scholarship for Church Organists at St Paul’s Church on 25 August. The concert also doubled as a graduation ceremony for the first batch of scholars of the scheme. Professor David Pong, son of the late Bishop James Pong, gave a speech at the concert, highlighting the achievements of the graduates. Among the six organists graduating from the scheme, four of them had passed their Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Grade 8 exam and one had passed the Grade 7 exam, all with distinction. The remaining graduate had taken his Grade 8 exam one day before the concert and was confident that he could pass with high marks, just like the other graduates.
