Publish Date: 20-Sep-2018
Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Women’s League kick-started its annual fundraiser on 1 September. Throughout the next two months, the Women’s League will appeal to parishioners for donations to aid the work of the needy parishes and mission churches, as well as the church’s poverty eradication and pastoral duties. The Women’s League will also use their donations to help charities and other welfare organizations to aid the poor and the vulnerable, care for the elderly, and assist in evangelical ministry and women’s ministry. Leader of the Women’s League, Ms Terese Wong, said, “The projects receiving sponsorship this year include church outreach and exchange ministries as well as theological education. We hope that sisters could broaden their horizons and strengthen their equipage while serving the church.” She also said that the church should encourage more women in Hong Kong to step out of their boundaries to gain more experience. They should learn from women in other regions and bring their experiences back home to facilitate the development of women’s ministry. With support from the province and funding for part of the costs, the Women’s League sends delegates to attend the Commission on the Status of Women meeting at the headquarters of United Nations at New York every year.
