Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui celebrates 20th anniversary

Publish Date: 22-Oct-2018

Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Eucharist and a thanksgiving banquet on 6 October 2018. Approximately 3,500 people gathered at the Asia-World Expo to take part.

Preaching the sermon at the Eucharist, Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, general secretary of the Anglican Communion, said it gladdened his heart to see Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui had not separated mission from proclamation and encouraged the church to continue her mission and social ministry while proclaiming the gospel. He pointed out that the Church developed her social service because that was what Jesus had done for the people and said that he hoped that the province could continue to develop more social services and bring glory to the Lord.

During his speech at the thanksgiving banquet, Archbishop Paul Kwong, primate of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, stressed that the province would continue her evangelical mission and actively develop Macau into the province’s fourth diocese. He also said that the province would dedicate to participating in worldwide and regional Anglican bodies and the building of relationships and dialogue among those bodies.
