Seniors inspire primary school students with their life stories

Publish Date: 04-Jan-2019

To pass on the ethos of the life story project, HKSKH Wong Tai Sin District Elderly Community Centre organized a life education event on 12 December at Kei Tak Primary School to encourage its students to cherish life and face adversity with courage and a positive attitude.

Seniors from the community centre were invited to share with the students their inspirational stories. One of the stories was from Ms Gou Gam-hou, who suffered a gunshot wound during the war when she was four and had to have her right hand amputated. However, her disability did not destroy her optimistic personality. Ms Gou worked hard to overcome her obstacles and single-handedly brought up four children.

She said she did not want to depend on others for the rest of her life and hoped to encourage others with her own life experiences.

“When people see what I can do despite my disability, they will feel inspired and become confident in accomplishing the same!” she said.
