Servers rededicate themselves in annual Eucharist
Publish Date: 04-Mar-2019
HKSKH Servers’ Guild held their annual Eucharist on 2 February, feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. The Archbishop of Hong Kong, the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, presided over the service and preached the sermon. Some one hundred servers and parishioners from across the three dioceses in Hong Kong and the Missionary Area of Macau took part. Archbishop Kwong reminded the servers, during his sermon, that they ought to dedicate their best to the Lord when serving and worshipping Him. Archbishop Kwong also admonished the servers to fuel their fervent service by their own spiritual growth and tight bonds with the Lord. They should not forget the importance of prayers and studies, and should learn the significance of the liturgy, especially the characteristics of the Anglican rites. Archbishop Kwong stressed that the closer a person was to the Lord, the more they could worship God with a pious heart. Archbishop Kwong quoted William Temple, the late Archbishop of Canterbury, as saying “adoration [is] the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable,” to point out that when people harbour the will to worship God, they would come to love God, the Church, and serving.
