Publish Date: 12-Mar-2019

Ming Hua Theological College held its 18th graduation ceremony in the form of an evening prayer at St Paul’s Church on 23 February. Chairman of the College Council and Archbishop of Hong Kong, the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, presented degrees and scholarships; Dr Kim Mak, president of Caritas Institute of Higher Education, and Dr Gareth Jones, principal of Ming Hua Theological College, presented certificates of clinical pastoral education; and the Rt Revd David Lai, bishop of Taiwan, preached the sermon. Addressing the graduands in his sermon, Bishop Lai confirmed the importance of strengthening their spirituality daily in this era of lifelong learning. In addition, they should study continuously to acquire knowledge and information about building healthy bodies, minds, and spirits in order to equip themselves for pastoral work and care. By merging their faith with their lives and their lives with their faith, they could then manifest the power of the Lord. At the same time, they had to be astute and be filled with passion and love as they confront the problems of their generations and their societies. They needed to pray to the Lord for wisdom, abilities and love, to care for and assist others, especially the marginalized, people weak in body or spirit, and people in difficulty and in need.
