Churches, schools, and social service units seek to deepen interactions
Publish Date: 29-Mar-2019

Over three hundred people attended a conference on challenges and opportunities faced by churches, schools, and social service units as the three branches deepen interaction. The conference was jointly organized by the Standing Commission on Social Services and the Steering Committee of the HKSKH Church Policy Paper on 16 March at St Stephen’s Church. In his keynote speech, Bishop of Western Kowloon, the Rt Revd Andrew Chan, stressed that if faith was to be integrated into one’s daily life, it needed to be able to allow a person live a fulfilled and happy life. When religion merged with the society, it could change our culture and cause us to care about issues such as environmental protection, the global wealth gap, peaceful co-existence, sharing of resources, and forgiveness. The interaction between biblical teachings and culture would entail the accommodation of faith with modern knowledge thus giving people a glimpse of the great Lord behind human knowledge and culture.
