The 17th Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) was held between 28 April and 5 May at the Gold Coast Hotel, Hong Kong. Approximately 180 representatives from provinces of the Anglican Communion gathered together to set up its future global goal. The opening service of the ACC was held on 28 April at St John’s Cathedral. At the end of the service, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury sounded the gong three times to announce the official start of the meetings. The Council holds meetings triennially. The theme of ACC-17 is “Equipping God’s People: going deeper into intentional discipleship”. Archbishop Paul Kwong, who is also the chairman of the ACC, was the celebrant at the service while Archbishop Welby was preacher.
