Publish Date: 15-May-2019
The 17th Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) celebrated its official end on 5 May. The theme of this meeting was “Equipping God’s People: going deeper into intentional discipleship”. Over the course of eight days, ACC members discussed a myriad of topics and passed a series of resolutions on safe church, climate justice, ecumenical relations, sustainable development goals, dignity of human beings, and facilitating youth participation in the decision making and the ministry of the Anglican Communion. The closing service was held in the afternoon of 5 May at St John’s Cathedral. Archbishop Justin Welby was the celebrant at the service, while Archbishop Paul Kwong, who is also the chairman of the ACC, was the preacher. During the service, Archbishop Welby commissioned the members of the ACC, the Standing Committee, and the staff at the Anglican Communion Office to go forth and proclaim God’s mission.
