HKSKH primary schools encourages reading through diverse activities

Publish Date: 27-May-2019

To encourage parents and children to develop the habit of reading picture books together, and to strengthen positive life education, St Stephen's Church College, St Matthew’s Primary School, and St Peter's Primary School joined the Central and Western District Office, Community Bench HK, four Kai Fong associations and Ting Pen to organize reading and education day from March to May.

Mrs Susanne Wong, District Officer (Central and Western), called the event “extraordinary” and said it set an example for similar reading events to be emulated in the future.

The unique feature of the event was the integration of reading materials on nature and ecology with diverse learning activities related to the real world. By sharing and exchanging views, reading was no longer an activity where people bury their heads in the pages alone but an enriching and interactive learning process.
