The Assisi of the South: A Hermitage in the Forest

Thanks to the invitation of Fr Christopher John, Minister General of the First Order of the Society of St Francis, we travelled to Stroud, Australia, from 26 May to 1 June, to the Hermitage of St Bernardine, popularly known as the ‘Assisi of the South’. The visit became a week-long retreat, and an opportunity for us to experience Franciscan monastic life.

The 10th General Synod of HKSKH was successfully held between 21 and 23 June at St Andrew’s Church. Lasting three sessions, the Synod saw elections held, motions debated, and a lengthy discussion during adjournment on the Provincial Nurture Blueprint.

Historic Moment of Unity through Pulpit Exchange between HKSKH and The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong

On 1st June at 9am, Cardinal Stephen Chow of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong was invited to preach during the Sunday service at HKSKH St John’s Cathedral. This marks the first time a Catholic Cardinal has preached at a Sunday service in St John’s Cathedral, and Cardinal Chow expressed that it is indeed a historic moment for him as a Roman Catholic Cardinal to share a message in the Anglican cathedral.

Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welcomes First Nun into the Province

On the morning of 19 June, 2025, Archbishop Andrew Chan presided over the reaffirmation of vows ceremony for Sister Amy Joy(王愛美)at St. John's Cathedral during the Feast of Corpus Christi. In the presence of the gathered clergy, Sister Amy Joy was officially received as the first nun in the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui province.

Hope beyond all hope: Taizé meeting for East Asian Youth

Uniting the Taizé Community, the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, and the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, a ‘Taizé meeting for East Asian Youth at Hong Kong’ was held at All Saints’ Cathedral, Wah Yan College (Kowloon), and St Ignatius Chapel on the evenings of 2 May till 5 May.
