（ St James the Apostle’s Day coincides with Pentecost 9, and either can be celebrated. If Pentecost 9 is celebrated on this day, then St James the Apostle’s Day is transferred to the following day, and SS Anne and Joachim’s Day is omitted for this year. If St James the Apostle’s Day is celebrated on 25 July, SS Anne and Joachim’s Day is kept on 26 July.）I chose you and appointed you, says the Lord; that you should go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. O gracious God, we remember before you today your servant and apostle James, first among the Twelve to suffer martyrdom for the Name of Jesus Christ; and we pray that you will pour out upon the leaders of your Church that spirit of self-denying service by which alone they may have true authority among your people; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
